Proposed his observation on high prevalence in Japan
and Ocular muscle type of Myasthenia Gravis in Childhood
1970 Found the first case of Segawa disease –two girl patients of cousins with dystonia with diurnal fluctuation
1970 Published clinical studies on Congenital Muscular Dystrophy
Published the twins’ cases as “Hereditary Progressive basal ganglia disorders with L-Dopa which showed dramatic effects”
1973 Introduced pathological study on basal ganglia of developmental disorder by all night EEG Published “Body movements during sleep in dystonia of childhood”
Proposed significance of development of aminergic neurons in child neurological disorder Proposed nomenclature of “Fukuyama-Type Congenital Muscular Dystrophy”
Examined another lady and confirmed this disease as dystonia not converting Parkinson’s disease in old age and published and proposed nomenclature of “Hereditary progressive dystonia with diurnal fluctuation (HPD)”
